Rules for Use of the Tennis Courts

 

All persons using the Common Area tennis courts do so at their own risk.  Ashburn Farm assumes NO responsibility for any accident or injury in connection with such use or for any loss and/or damage to personal property.

 

The Tennis Committee may reserve any of the courts as approved by the Ashburn Farm Board of Trustees.  Reserve times will be posted at courts at least 48 hours prior to reservation.

 

Courts may not be used for any other purpose other than tennis.

 

No glass containers are to be taken into the court.

 

When players are waiting, the following court times shall be adhered to:  1 ½ hours for singles; 2 hours for doubles, except for the times reserved in accordance with item 2.

 

Only appropriate tennis shoes shall be worn on the court.

 

Proper tennis attire is encouraged at all times.

 

 

The Rules are Posted at all Tennis Courts and apply to all residents and guests.

The Ashburn Farm Tennis Committee is putting together a list of available tennis players in our community that can be accessed via this website.

 

If you are interested in participating in this list, please send your name and contact number's, when you are available to play, and your rating (be it self-rated or you have been assigned a rating by a tennis instructor) to tennis@afhoa.net.

 

When the list is up and running, we will be sending emails to everyone on the list with a direct link.

Format: Two brackets to choose from, 6.5 USTA combined rating and under, and 7.0 and above combined USTA rating. But you really don't need to have an official USTA rating, if you love to play and want to join us, come on out and join the fun.  Afterward we're having a party!

Tennis Committee Charter  (Effective January-04)


The Ashburn Farm Tennis Committee is an existing ad hoc Committee whose purpose is to oversee the efficient and professional operation of the Association's tennis program ensuring an equal opportunity for all residents to participate in this program. The Committee shall review the existing rules approved by the board and shall make recommendations when necessary to improve upon these rules. The Committee shall give due notice for its meetings.

The chairperson will be elected by the Tennis Committee and presented to the Board of Trustees for approval. The chairperson is responsible for coordinating and supervising the Committee activities and meetings to assure that Committee responsibilities are met. The chairperson shall appoint a Committee of volunteers to meet monthly at an agreed upon time and place. This Committee shall not exceed ten and must have a quorum of three to carry out motions. The chairperson shall appoint a secretary to take notes.

The Tennis Committee will work closely with Ashburn Farm management to ensure proper coordination in meeting program needs such as advertising and repairs. The chairperson will submit an annual budget in a timely manner to the Budget and Finance Committee and shall monitor engineer surveys to ensure tennis court needs are adequately addressed in the Replacement Reserve Schedule. The chairperson or designated representative shall attend monthly board meetings. Any recommendations shall be submitted in a timely manner via management to the board in writing and then presented to the board in an open meeting.
