As Pool Season Approaches . . .
Pool season is just around the corner. Please keep your adult pool passes from 2013 - they can be used this year. Child passes with pictures older than 2011 need to be updated as they are expired and will not work this season. Updates or replacements for lost passes are $5 per pass. Also, all children age 2 by 9/01/14 must have their own pass this year. They do not need pictures though, so a visit to our office is not necessary. The cost is $5 per pass. Just complete the Child Pool Pass Request Form, and you can mail it, along with payment of cash or check, to 21400 Windmill Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147. We will then mail the pass to you. Payment must be received before any passes will be mailed.
Please check your newsletter or email email@example.com for open registration dates. Reminders for those dates and times also go out in our email blasts if you are signed up to receive them.
Unsure of what you need to do in order to get pool passes for your family? Click on the following link: How Do I Get My Pool Pass for the 2014 Season?
As of 2010, the pool has been included in your HOA fees. Stipulations for membership apply as explained below. As a courtesy, all households will receive 4 free guest passes. They will be available for use on your account when pool season starts May 24th. Guest passes will be controlled electronically through the pool computer system, as we no longer use paper guest passes for residents. After the four free passes are used, you can purchase additional guest passes. Please see Guest Pass Pricing below for details. If guest passes are purchased in our Windmill Office, they will be electronically added to your account and may be used at your leisure within the pool season they are purchased. Guest passes purchased in the season DO NOT carry over into the next season if unused. You may purchase guest passes at the pools on an as needed basis with a check at the pool in which you want to use them. These passes must be used at the time of purchase and are not subject to the special pricing and will be $5 each regardless of the amount purchased.
All children turning 2 on or before 7/14/14 will need a pass, but children do not need pictures until age 9. This policy change is to ensure better tracking of pool capacity levels. These passes are $5 per, and the child does not need to come into the office; the pass can be mailed upon receipt of payment. Please email Chrissy at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need passes or fill out the Child Pass Request Form. Payment methods accepted are cash or check. Children will need pictures on their passes if they will be 9 on or before 9/1/14. If your child has old passes with pictures, they will remain valid at the pools.
If you are new to Ashburn Farm Association you will need to come in to fill out the registration form and all over age 18 needing a pass will be asked to prove residency. State issue ID is preferred. The fee for pool passes is $5 per pass. This can be done on a walk-in basis between 10 am and 4 pm during the week. No need for an appointment. There will be a few open registration dates in April and May in the evenings and on weekends for your convenience. IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR PASS(ES)…..please simply email email@example.com or call Chrissy at 703-729-6680. Your passes can be reprinted for $5 per pass. If the passes are a few years old, you may want to consider new pictures either by office visit or emailing updated pictures. Email or call for details. If you have are adding a restricted member, or have a new restricted member they will need a pass. The cost is $5. This can be done in person or via email upon receipt of payment for the pass.
Obtaining a pool membership:
Homeowners - Must be current on HOA dues and membership rights have not been suspended by a 55-513(b) hearing committee. Must have a valid government issued photo ID with current Ashburn Farm address.
Renters - All HOA dues must be current and membership rights have not been suspended by a 55-513(b) hearing committee. People renting a property located in Ashburn Farm must obtain a letter from the property’s Landlord stating he/she has given the renter his/her pool membership. Renter must also provide government issued photo ID to prove residency.
Landlords – Landlord of an Ashburn Farm property must decide whether to give up the pool membership to the renter. Landlords may keep their pool membership, but please inform tenants of this decision. Only one membership will be given per address. In order to receive a pool pass, you will need to bring your government issued ID, and home ownership in Ashburn Farm will be verified in-office.

Each household is also allowed one restricted member not living in the household such as a nanny. This person will only be allowed access to the pools while caring for the member’s children. The restricted membership is allowed for families with at least one child under 12. All members of the household over age 2 by 7/14/2012 will need to have a pass. Children under 2 will not need their own passes.
Pool passes are $5.00 per member. Lost passes are $5.00 to replace. Payment for passes must be cash or check. Come into the Association office on weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm to have pool passes made. If you are unable to come into the office during those hours, a picture can be sent via email or you may come to an open registration in April or May (those dates will be published via newsletter and our website). Please call (703) 729-6680 or email firstname.lastname@example.org questions.
All Outside Memberships for the 2014 pool season have been sold. If you are still interested in joining, please email email@example.com to be placed on the waiting list. You will be contacted if a space becomes available. The price for a family membership is $375. That price includes passes for the family and use of all three Ashburn Farm pool locations. Those purchasing an outside membership will be able to use the pool beginning May 27th as Memorial Day weekend is the busiest weekend of the season and we do not want overcrowding to be an issue. Click here for the Outside Membership Application.

It consists of swimming 25 yards and treading water for one minute. A patch will be issued to children passing the swim test and it must be visually displayed on the swimsuit. If your child needs to take the swim test, notify the lifeguard or pool manager at the pools.
Public Wi-Fi Available
All three Ashburn Farm pools now have wireless access points for patrons to use. The Association provides free wireless Internet access via open, unsecured wireless networks.
Wireless users can connect their devices to one of the following wireless networks: "Windmill Pool", "Summerwood Pool", "Breezyhill Pool". The password at all three pools is "poolwifi".
It is strongly recommended that you do not use our networks to transmit personal, financial or legal data, as it is not possible for the Association to protect you against malicious theft or interception of such data transmitted over the unsecured wireless networks.

Reasons for Pool Closings
The pool area and deck must remain clear for forty-five minutes after the last clap of thunder or visible lightening. For rain – unless it is a hard rain (cannot see the bottom of deep end) or the temperature is excessively cold, the pool should remain open. In cases where there are fecal and/or vomit accidents – the affected pool has to cleared (closed) for 6 hours. If for any other reason a pool requires closing for emergency repair situations, a notice is posted on the pool house doors.
Birthday Pool Parties for Children
The Crystal Aquatics lifeguards are responsible for coordinating swimming lessons for children. Please speak to the lifeguards to arrange dates/times for your child(ren).
Another season of Masters Swimming is under way in Ashburn Farm. The Masters practice group provides an organized workout for adults of all levels. Practices are held at the Summerwood pool 3 days a week (M-W-F) from 6:00-7:30am in the morning.
You do not have to be a “Master” swimmer to participate in the workouts. The people who participate in our work out group cover the complete range from currently active Masters swimmers to tri-athletes to those who just want to get or stay in shape. Some in the group will only be able to swim a couple of hundred yards and some will probably swim 2+ miles. You do not need to be able to swim all of the strokes but you should be able to swim a few lengths of the pool without stopping.
Our workouts run from now through Labor Day Weekend. The program is limited to Ashburn Farm residents with pool memberships. The only cost is the fee to join the US Masters organization. You will have to provide your own equipment (goggles, fins, pull buoy, paddles).
You can join or renew your US Masters membership at http://www.usms.org/reg/ . If you prefer the paper method, you can fill out the attached registration form. Keep in mind that it takes about a week to process the paper application. If you, or someone you know is 18-24 years old, there is a discounted membership of $22. You have to use the paper form to get the discount. Unless you already swim with another Masters team, select “Unattached” for the team.
If you have any questions about Masters swimming at Ashburn Farm, you can call or email David Schulte for additional information at (H) 703-726-8169 or firstname.lastname@example.org . You may also want to check the US Masters Swimming website http://www.usms.org or the local Virginia regional sitehttp://www.vaswim.org for additional information about Masters Swimming.
