News from the The Good Shepherd Alliance, Inc. March 12, 2008
Dear Community Neighbors and Friends, I wanted to give you a heads-up on behalf of the Good Shepherd Alliance (GSA) that a wonderful new retail store is opening this week in Old Ashburn, "Hope's Treasures".
It is an upscale shop located in the Old Ashburn Square Plaza that will be in operation until the new Center of Hope opens in the next two or three months at the location currently under construction on Ashburn Road. We took up a very kind offer from the management of the Plaza to locate there for a short time. This boutique will not accept donations of goods - that will still take place at the GSA's Thrift Store location in Sterling. The new "Hope's Treasures" store also does not conduct any kind of GSA operations or services and does not ever plan to do so.
This is simply a great opportunity for the GSA to launch its upscale boutique for a short time until The Center of Hope opens in the Spring, and it allows the local community to come see our store and merchandise, and begin to meet the amazing people at the GSA who dedicate their lives to a needy cause.
Lastly, this email is being sent to some key stakeholders in the Ashburn area to inform them of this opening: local HOAs, residents, the Loudoun County Sheriffs Office, the Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Lori Waters' office, and some local media outlets. It's also posted on the GSA website. And GSA staff is circulating flyers about the store to neighboring businesses in the Plaza shopping centre.
If you have any questions at all, please contact me directly. I am, as always, at your service.
Kind regards,
Nicholas Jonathan Graham

There is a new store in Ashburn selling antique and collectible merchandise. The upscale Hope’s Treasures will feature an eclectic mix of new and old “treasures”. They are featuring merchandise from SERRV’s “A Greater Gift” program. These are all handmade items made in Third World countries and by people experiencing poverty in our own USA. This program is a member of the Fair Trade Organization (FTO) so all artisans are paid a fair wage for their items.
You can read more about this fantastic program at www.agreatergift.org. You can also check out Hope’s Treasures blog at http://hopestreasures.blogspot.com/
A sampling of what they plan to stock:
- Racks full of brand new clothing with tags. - A huge selection of home school teaching materials, craft items and brand new cross stitch kits. - Nice pieces of good quality furniture and a good selection of retired Longaberger baskets.
