ARB - Responsibilities

The Architectural Review Board (ARB) is delegated the responsibility of ensuring that proposed exterior alterations to homeowner properties within the Association comply with the objectives set forth in the Covenants. The ARB members (made up of  volunteer homeowners) conduct regular and systematic reviews of all applications submitted by residents. Their main function is to assure that the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions, the governing documents, which set the standards of Ashburn Farm's quality of design, is implemented and maintained. The Ashburn Farm Architectural Guidelines Booklet is provided to homeowners as a reference in understanding the Covenants, architectural review procedures and application processes, and established design principles and standards. If you have questions regarding any exterior changes to your home, or are interested in getting involved with the ARB, attend their next meeting.

ARB MEETINGS ARE SCHEDULED FOR THE SECOND THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH.

Architectural Guidelines

The Architectural Guidelines are posted to this website.  Click here to view the website version.  The website version provides easy access to the forms and new worksheets developed to aid homeowners when submitting requests for approvals on Exterior Changes.

You can also print the Adobe version of the new document from this website.  Please keep in mind that this is a large file and will take time to download and print.  You must have the Adobe Reader loaded to access this file.

A hardcopy of the Architectural Guidelines, and all associated forms can also be picked up at the Association office 21400 Windmill Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147 - during office hours.

If you do not have Acrobat Reader loaded, click on the link provided at the bottom of the left column for this purpose.  All forms are also in the Adobe format.

Questions can be directed to:

Occasionally, the Association Office will get calls on Mailboxes - either replacement or painting.  The Mailboxes should be stained - COCOA  (Olympic Solid Stain) which is purchased at Lowe's.

If shopping at Home Depot for a comparable paint color to the COCOA stain noted above - for your mailbox post, use the mix noted below.  You can double-click on the picture to enlarge it for better viewing and printing. Take this with you to Home Depot and give it to the person who mixes the paint for the right match.

For replacement (below are some resources you can use):

If assistance is needed in getting your Single Family home mailbox and mailbox post replaced - you can contact Main Street Mailboxes at 703-753-5521.  Their website is http://www.mailboxesplusva.com (note:  the company has changed their name but not the website.) Ask for Model/Style MP11 with the Wooden posts. This company is familiar with Ashburn Farm's guidelines on mailboxes.  The charge for replacement includes the post, and mailbox - delivery, installation and a one year warranty. They will charge you approximately $130.00 + tax.  Please call them for more information. Main Street Mailboxes is not a certified vendor of the Ashburn Farm Association. This is one suggested resource only.

Another resource you can use to have mailbox posts and the mailbox installed is Southrunmailbox.com.  This resource will charge you $169.00 plus tax for the installation (call them for their most recent pricing).  Click here to access their website.  Mailboxes and posts must conform to Ashburn Farm Architectural Guidelines.  Please make sure you specify that when getting a new mailbox and post installed.

Suggestion:  If you get your mailbox post replaced - don't forget about newspaper delivery.  For example:  Washington Post will place a color dot to indicate your service type.  If that dot is removed and not replaced - it could cause interruptions in your service.

For Painting Mailbox posts only:

$20.00
