Board of Trustees
Ashburn Farm

Election Candidates are listed below in Alphabetical Order by Last Name

Peggy Chapman (Term 4/08-4/10)

My name is Peggy Chapman, and I reside on Hay Road in Ashburn with my spouse, Lee.  My husband and I moved from North Carolina to Ashburn eight years ago to be near our family.  I was a marketing writer with AT&T before taking early retirement.  Following retirement from AT&T, I worked with United Way, the American Red Cross, and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.  Presently, I am employed by Nova Medical Group and Urgent Care Center, Ashburn.

After moving to Ashburn, I wanted to get to know other retirees in the community.  I started attending the HOA Events Committee meetings and expressed my interest in forming an organization for seniors.  The HOA management was fully supportive of assisting in organizing a senior’s club, which was organized in 2003 and named the Ashburn Classics.  I served as Events Committee chair for three years and president during 2007.  I continue to serve on the HOA Events Committee and will remain active with the Ashburn Classics.

I am interested in the future of Ashburn Farm and want it to continue to be one of the outstanding HOAs in the area.  I realize a lot of work, time, and effort is required of many citizens in order for Ashburn Farm to remain a community in which people enjoy living, working, and playing.  I will strive to do my best to ensure that this continues to be a top priority.

Mike Kimmel (Term 4/08-4/10)

I have been a resident of Ashburn Farm since May of 2000, having transplanted to Virginia from Texas for a job with AOL.  I still work at AOL as a manager in the Corporate Technologies team.  I quickly came to love living in northern Virginia and specifically in the Ashburn Farm community.  The people I have met in Ashburn Farm are truly friendly and outgoing.  I was welcomed into the area by my neighbors and now consider them amongst my best friends! I want to keep Ashburn Farm the friendly, safe, and supportive community that it is for years to come.

As far as qualifications for becoming a BOT member, I have served as chairperson and founding member of the Ashburn Farm Neighborhood Watch for the last 15 months.  Having been a committee chairperson, I have been in attendance to most BOT meetings since that time.  In addition, I was both a member and later president of the Legacy Hills Homeowners Association in Plano, Texas before moving to Virginia.  Although a much smaller community than Ashburn Farm, many of the issues and problems faced there are also faced by our community.  I will pledge that if elected to the BOT, I will be an active member who listens to the community and supports their wishes to ensure that Ashburn Farm remains a great place to live!

Laura Plummer (Term 4/08-4/10)

I am the current President of the Board of Trustees and am seeking your vote for re-election. This year, I will complete my 8th year serving on the Board.  During my tenure, I have served one year as Treasurer and 4 years as your Board President.  I am also the board liaison for the Association’s Events Committee and have worked very closely with the Budget and Finance committee this year to keep our assessments to a minimum without sacrificing our quality of life.

I live in Ashburn Farm with my husband and 2 daughters and have lived in the Farm for 12 years.  I am a first grade teacher at Cedar Lane Elementary.  I believe that Ashburn Farm is a great community and a wonderful place to live and raise kids.

I was an active member of the Board when our community went from developer control to a majority homeowner control.  I believe I would continue to be a valuable asset as the community moves from a majority homeowner control to an all homeowner control this year.  I have established good relationships with members of the Association Staff, several local area homeowner’s association presidents and local vendors.  I have worked with, and will continue to work with residents to address your concerns, implement solutions and enhance our community. I bring a great deal of experience to contribute should I be re-elected to the board. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Ashburn Farm Community for another term.

I’ve taken an early retirement from Prudential Insurance where I held various management positions involving sales, financial planning and troubleshooting.

I feel fortunate to be a part of this community and an active member on the committees. We have accomplished a tremendous amount of work and completed many projects over the course of the 9 years that I have been involved. The people that serve on the Committees and Boards are hard working volunteers and great individuals to be around.

I firmly believe that my knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm is a great asset to the Ashburn Farm community. As we move ahead and celebrate the community’s 20th anniversary, I promise to work diligently to keep making improvements to our community, listen to the concerns of residents and strive towards keeping our community a wonderful and beautiful place to live.
