Board of Trustees
Ashburn Farm

The BOT members are not listed in any particular order below.

Peggy Chapman (Term 4/10-4/12)

My name is Peggy Chapman and I reside on Hay Road in Ashburn with my spouse, Lee. I am completing my first term on the Ashburn Farm Homeowners Association (HOA) Board of Trustees this year. During 2008, I acted as liaison to the Parking Committee, and in 2009, I acted as liaison to the Events Committee. After serving on the HOA Board, I realize how much work, time, and effort are required of many citizens and HOA staff in order for Ashburn Farm to remain a community in which people enjoy living, working, and playing. I would like to continue working with others who have a vision and common interests in the future of Ashburn Farm.

My husband and I moved from North Carolina to Ashburn ten years ago to be near our family. I was a marketing writer with AT&T before taking early retirement. Following retirement from AT&T, I worked with United Way, the American Red Cross, and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Presently, I am employed by Nova Medical Group and Urgent Care Center, Ashburn.

After moving to Ashburn, I wanted to get to know other retirees in the community. I started attending the HOA Events Committee meetings and expressed my interest in forming an organization for seniors. The HOA management was fully supportive of assisting in organizing a senior’s club, which was organized in 2003 and named the Ashburn Classics. I have served as chairperson for the Events and Membership committees and President for the club.

Darrell Miller (Term 4/10-4/12)

My family and I have been residents of Ashburn Farm for 10 years. We were drawn to this area by the schools, walking trails, and recreational facilities. I still remember driving through the neighborhoods and seeing all the people out and about interacting with their friends. This was the place we wanted to plant roots and raise our family.

I am a Sr. Director with a multi-national telecommunications company. I’ve designed, planned, and operated networks domestically and abroad working with billion dollar budgets, large staffs, and demanding customers. Professionally, I’m known for improving efficiency and quality of organizations and services they provide. Personally, I’ve been involved in scouting (Cubmaster for Pack 1154), coaching (we didn’t win too many games, but had lots of fun), and first husband (my wife was PTA president… that counts doesn’t it?). Most recently I’ve been working with Ashburn Farm Parents United concerning school boundaries and new school placement.

Great communities like ours don’t just happen, you have to work at it. A vision for the future needs to be established, recognition of where we are needs to take place, and a plan needs to be developed to get us from here to there. I would like to bring my experience to the BOT and to the community. Thank you for your consideration.

Please don't throw away your ballots this year! Your vote will absolutely make a difference in how Ashburn Farm operates.

Our family has lived in Ashburn Farm since 2004 and we have been active in the community as volunteers and participants in every event we can squeeze into our schedule. Some of you may know me from when I wrote the Living in LoCo column(http://loudounextra.washingtonpost.com/blogs/living-loco/2007/nov/30/so-long-loco-readers/) for the Washington Post and delved into the issues that affect our community every day. That was also when I learned what a significant difference the board members make in all the homeowners' associations throughout Loudoun.

I am running for a board position this year because I know that residents are often too busy to keep up with the myriad of issues and I want to be able to represent the interests of those who moved to Ashburn Farm for the community and quality of life that provides such a great value to all of us.

I have more than 16 years of professional work experience and am currently Vice President of Editorial at Publish2, Inc. A former college athlete and high school coach, I am passionate about sports, especially lacrosse, and enjoy hitting the trails and parks with my husband, Brian, and our two children, who attend Cedar Lane Elementary.

Thank you for your support. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you on the Ashburn Farm Board of Trustees.

Great amenities, community schools, relative affordability and friendly neighbors, this is what attracted my family to Ashburn Farm in 2004. As a father of three school-age children, I seek to bring a fresh perspective to our HOA leadership team. I want to serve on our Board of Trustees to represent and champion the interests of our families.

Most of my life has been spent serving and representing the needs of others. I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer right out of college and managed a program at Peace Corps headquarters upon my return. While a resident of Arlington, I served on the Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee to help advise the county on public funding for community projects. I currently work as Executive Director of a private foundation, administering an annual budget of $5-$10 million to fund charitable grassroots initiatives worldwide. I am also actively advocating for our community in the school boundary process through Ashburn Farm Parents United. Serving and representing the interests of our community is something I care passionately about.

It takes a lot of work to keep our neighborhood a great place to live and raise a family, as well as insure that the needs and interests of Ashburn Farm are heard within our county. We need energy and vision within our HOA to make that happen. I am willing and eager to serve our community in this way, but need your support to do it.

Tim Hughes (Term 4/10-4/12)

My name is Tim Hughes and I ask for your vote for HOA trustee. My wife and I moved here with our three boys to Ashburn Farm in 2006. My impression of Ashburn is a community that has a passion for excellence and high standards for quality of life. I’m excited to be part of this community and want to commit my energy and focus to the betterment of Ashburn Farm.

I have more than 20 years of professional experience in various sales representation capacities, both as individual contributor as well as in mid and upper management roles. I currently work for Canon and my experience in working with Fortune 500 companies in Northern VA has taught me how to deal with varying personalities, as well as how to build consensus, and my results have demonstrated a consistent ability to get the job done.

In my personal life, I am married to a wonderful working mom and we’re active in the life of our church. I am also busily involved in the school activities of my three sons, ages 11, 9, and 7. This also has me supporting both Cub and Boy Scout activities, coaching hockey teams at the Ashburn Ice House, and even advocating for my kids and community through Ashburn Farm Parents United.

I love Ashburn Farm and I appreciate your vote and being given an opportunity to help make it an even better place to live through a leadership role in your Homeowners Association.
