Tree
Stumps and Tree Removal
Existing tree stumps or newly exposed tree stumps must be removed or ground
down 12 inches below grade. The area must be returned to grass, or mulched
if in a garden bed.
Tree
removal must comply with all Loudoun County ordinances on tree cutting
(consult the Loudoun County Extension Office).
Changes REQUIRING an Application

Live
trees with a diameter in excess of four (4) inches measured twelve (12)
inches above ground.

Live
flowering trees (e.g., redbud or dogwood) or broadleaf evergreens larger
than two (2) inches in diameter, measured twelve (12) inches from the
ground.

Live
vegetation on slopes with a 20% gradient or areas marked as “no cut” areas
on the original plans.
