Ashburn Farm Architectural Guidelines - Website Edition

Screened Porches and Decks

Enclosed or screened porches and decks on single-family houses must be architecturally consistent with any proposed/existing deck on the house.

The roof must match the slope, shingle type and color of the house roof, unless the porch is built below an elevated deck. Other roofing types will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A proposed outside entrance door must match the color and construction of the structure it serves.

Size and Scale

Screened porches and decks should be located within the rear plane of the house and not extend beyond the side planes of the house.  They should be appropriate to the scale of the house as sited on the lot.  They must meet Loudoun County minimum setback requirements and should not be constructed across Building Restriction Lines (BRL) as shown on individual plats or site plans

Material and Color

Screened porches and decks should be constructed of wood or simulated wood materials such Trex.  All other materials will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Roof shingles and siding must match the existing house colors.

Screened porches on townhomes are not allowed.
